The mission of the High Tech High Heels Speakers Bureau is to inspire and encourage middle school and high school students, especially the under-represented, to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields.

On 8/14 and 8/22, Meagan Ross facilitated the inaugural training workshops, an effort to “Equip an Army” of volunteers to go forth and:

  • Share with students why we love working in STEM careers
  • Explain to students the impact they can have on the world by working in STEM
  • Show students the diversity of real-life women and men in STEM.

Using guided, inquiry based instruction and learning, participants reflected on their personal stories, and developed strategies for how to talk to students about STEM careers. See photos below of some of the concept maps created depicting the reasons and benefits for a career in STEM.
